Production Safety Officer
- Monday to Friday 7.30am-4.00pm
- $50-$55 per hour inclusive of casual loading
- Smithfield
- 6 month minimum placement with the potential for ongoing permanency

Our client is seeking a Safety and Compliance Officer to provide effective WHS support to a large manufacturing business in Smithfield and Penrith and contribute to the overall safety and quality standards of the business, it’s clients and projects. The ideal candidate will be proactive in closing safety gaps and demonstrate a high standard of SOP document creation and auditing processes.
- Previous experience as a compliance or HSEQ officer, within manufacturing or production an advantage
- Leadership skills
- Must have strong communication skills both written and verbal
- High degree of organisational skills and the ability to multi-task, learn quickly and be proactive
- Previous experience in food manufacturing or packaging preferred
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Highly developed document writing skills for SOPs and safety signage
- Assisting with the review, collation, and distribution of safety communication such as SWMS, toolboxes, safety alerts, and the maintenance of site safety documentation.
- Assist the equipment supervisor with the maintenance and record keeping of machinery safety devices such as first aid kits, fire extinguishers, harnesses and others.
- Compiling data for safety and quality reporting and initiatives and ensuring submission in a timely manner to relevant people.
- Participating and assisting with document preparation for any internal and external compliance audits and reviews and certificate renewals
- Assisting the Operations Manager with the completion of site audits and inspections as per a predetermined schedule and action NCRs within the required time frame.
- Assist the Operations Manager with the investigation of any public or client complaints incidents/accidents including the documentation of any corrective (preventative) actions.
- Participate in post-project review meetings with the Operations team and to discuss ‘lessons learned’ and identify areas for improvement.
- Assisting with general administrative tasks such as PPE and safety equipment stock control.
Required Skills/Qualification
- Understands and demonstrates alignment with the clients vision and values.
- Understands the clients, systems, and processes, including its organisational structure and policies.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritise workload in a high volume, fast paced environment.
- Attention to detail and the ability to learn new systems and soft wares.
- Be accurate and methodical with rigorous inspection of data.
- Ability to identify and develop ideas that lead to improvements within internal safety systems, processes and behaviours.
- An authentic, positive, and professional approach and presentation in the delivery of role.
- Ability to work autonomously, flexibly, and cooperatively as part of a team.
- A growth mindset which is proven through resilience and adaptability
